In a bid to encourage pet owners to comply with licensing requirements, the Lancaster and Palmdale Animal Care Centers are offering a penalty fee amnesty as part of a broader initiative from the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control.
Through February 28, pet owners can purchase or renew their pet licenses without incurring late penalties or field enforcement fees.

As part of the Los Angeles County ordinance, all pet owners in unincorporated areas, as well as residents of cities that have adopted the county’s animal-related regulations, must ensure their pets are licensed, spayed or neutered, and microchipped.
The Lancaster and Palmdale animal care centers are participating in this effort to ease the financial burden on pet owners and ensure compliance with these important pet care laws.
During the amnesty period, pet owners will pay a reduced fee for licenses: $60 for an unaltered dog, $20 for an altered dog, and $10 to license an unaltered cat, with altered cats costing just $5.
Additionally, seniors aged 60 and older and military veterans with disabilities can take advantage of an even lower fee of $7.50 to license an altered dog.
Additional Services for Pet Owners
Alongside the amnesty period, both the Lancaster and Palmdale centers are offering low-cost vaccinations and microchipping services by appointment.
Pet owners are encouraged to take advantage of these services to ensure their pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and easily identifiable in case they get lost.
However, it is important to note that registration is not included with these services, and appointments can be scheduled via the official Los Angeles County Animal Care website.
